People Have Opinions in the Battle of the Wii U Versus an Old iPad

October 4, 2023 By Dan Finnen

For Super Gear Land, I have an ongoing shorts series where I put two consoles head-to-head in a tribute to the timeless debate of the Genesis versus the Super Nintendo. However, there’s always a twist, as I put two unlikely contenders against each other that, on the surface, don’t seem to have anything to do with each other – but have some surprising things in common. It’s just a goof though, and every single one ends in a tie no matter what. You will not be shocked to find out that some people take this, very, very seriously. Which is absolutely delightful.

The battle of the Wii U Versus an iPad is the most popular of the bunch, clocking in at nearly 800,000 views at the moment. I had no idea how many Wii U stans there were out there, bravely carrying forth the torch of Nintendo’s least-loved child.

I finally got my hands on a 32X just to film this video, pitting the two consoles-in-cartridge against each other. I have been duly roasted for a Super Nintendo that has turned a hideous shade of brown. It’s totally clean, that’s just sun exposure, I promise! I left the thing in direct sunlight on the floor of my bedroom for years upon years!

Speaking of the Super Nintendo, I got a new video out about the kick ass player’s guide for Super Mario RPG. Check out that and more over at the channel. I got a whole bunch of new stuff coming soon, including a look at the wild port of Donkey Kong Country to the Game Boy Color.
